Last updated: 1 November 2026
This policy explains how ProLangvo handles your data on prolangvo.com and in the ProLangvo browser extension. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for users in the EU and EEA, the GDPR.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your account and help you learn.
- We don't sell your data, show ads or use tracking cookies.
- You can see, export or delete your data at any time.

What we collect
- Your account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or Microsoft.
- Your settings: the languages you learn and use, and your preferences.

- Questions to Ask AI: your question and the sentence it's about.
- Messages to us: feedback and problem reports, which may include basic technical details to help us fix the issue.
- Basic technical data, such as your IP address and error logs, to help us maintain security and troubleshoot problems.
Why we use it
- To provide ProLangvo: your account, library, translations, word meanings and reviews. This is needed to deliver the service you signed up for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
- To keep it safe and working: preventing abuse and fixing problems. This is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- To reply to you when you contact us.
We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't track you across other websites.
Who helps us run ProLangvo

Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Just email info@prolangvo.ch from the address linked to your account. We'll reply within 30 days.
If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU and EEA, your local data protection authority.
Browser extension
The ProLangvo extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox adds clickable subtitles to YouTube and Netflix.
- Where it works: only on YouTube, Netflix and prolangvo.com (and our old address, prolangvo.ch). It doesn't read other websites or your browsing history.
- What it reads: the video you're watching (title, language and subtitles), so it can show translations and meanings.
- What it saves to your account, when you're signed in: the videos you open, which appear in your library and can be removed at any time, and the words you save with their sentences.
- Permissions: access to YouTube and Netflix to read subtitles; access to prolangvo.com and prolangvo.ch to connect to your account; and storage to remember your sign-in and settings in your browser.
We use this data only to provide the extension's language-learning features. We never sell it, never use it for advertising and never use it to judge creditworthiness.
The use of information received by the ProLangvo extension will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Cookies
ProLangvo uses only essential cookies and browser storage: to keep you signed in, remember your language and settings, and remember where you stopped in a lesson. We use no advertising or analytics cookies, so there's nothing to accept.
Google or Microsoft may set their own cookies when you sign in with them. You can clear all of this in your browser settings. You'll be signed out, but your account and learning data stay safe.
Minimum age
You must be at least 16 to use ProLangvo. If you believe a younger person has given us data, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
